Ben
Ben Stevens
Ben built his career from the ground up — literally. Starting as a technician on Australia’s copper, fibre and HFC networks, he spent his early years in the field, learning how service organisations really work: where they break, where they bottleneck, and what it takes to deliver for customers at scale. That hands‑on foundation shaped everything that followed.
Over the next two decades, Ben moved through senior operational and executive roles across Telstra, Service Stream, ISGM, Tech2 Group, Optus. He led national field‑workforce operations, managed large P&Ls, oversaw complex construction and activation programs, and guided organisations through periods of rapid change. Whether running emerging markets, rebuilding service models, or advising on commercial structures and fulfilment strategies, Ben became known for his ability to simplify complexity and bring order to environments that had outgrown their operating models.
Simpl. was born from that experience. As co‑founder, Ben brings a deeply practical, operationally grounded perspective to the firm’s work. He believes that great service organisations aren’t built through theory — they’re built through clarity, discipline, and a deep respect for the people doing the work. His approach blends decades of frontline understanding with executive‑level commercial acumen, helping organisations design models that scale, teams that perform, and operations that deliver consistently.
Today, in his work at Simpl., he remains driven by the same principle that shaped his early career: keep it simple, build it well, and make it work in the real world.
Rakesh
Rakesh Patel
Rakesh has spent more than two decades inside organisations at their most critical moments — scaling fast, transforming under pressure, or preparing for major strategic shifts. His career has always sat at the intersection of commercial clarity, operational discipline and growth ambition, and that combination is what ultimately led him to co‑found Simpl.
Rakesh began his career at PwC, where he helped rebuild the firm’s management consulting capability in Australia and led large‑scale operational improvement programs that delivered more than $1B in realised value for clients. That early exposure to complex transformation shaped his belief that great organisations are built on strong commercial foundations and disciplined execution.
He went on to join Tandem Corp, where he spent seven years driving strategic growth, commercial development and investor readiness. Rakesh led the creation of a 10‑year business plan and investor materials that supported Tandem’s IPO and trade‑sale pathway and influenced the transition of nbn Co to a managed‑services model — a shift that required orchestrating more than 3,000 field workers and redesigning how national operations functioned.
From there, he stepped into CFO and Commercial Director roles across tech2, Optus and IE, guiding organisations through periods of rapid expansion, capital planning, and operating‑model redesign. Whether scaling a start‑up business unit to a $25M annualised run rate, building investment‑grade financial models, or leading an enterprise‑wide ERP transformation for a major FMCG client, Rakesh became known for bringing structure, confidence and commercial rigour to environments where the stakes were high and the path wasn’t always clear.
Simpl. was created from that experience. Rakesh co‑founded Simpl. to give founders and operators access to the kind of practical, commercially grounded support he wished more organisations had during moments of change. His approach blends strategic insight with hands‑on financial and operational leadership, helping clients build models that scale, governance that supports growth, and transformation programs that land.
Today, Rakesh continues to advise organisations on strategy, transformation and commercial performance. What drives him is the same principle that has shaped his entire career: clarity creates momentum — and momentum is what turns ambition into outcomes.
Vince
Vince Buscema
Vince Buscema has spent nearly three decades inside the engine rooms of Australia’s largest service organisations, leading national operations, transforming customer delivery models and rebuilding the systems that keep essential services running at scale. His career has been defined by a relentless focus on making complex operations work better for customers, employees and shareholders.
He built his operational foundations at Optus, rising through senior leadership roles across national field services, technical operations and large onshore/offshore contact‑centre environments. He later held executive roles at Telstra and Foxtel, where he led customer service delivery, national field operations and home‑service supply chains, becoming known for bringing clarity, discipline and momentum to environments where operational excellence directly shapes customer experience.
Vince went on to serve in C‑suite roles, including Chief Customer Officer at tech2 and Chief Operating Officer at Ingenico, where he oversaw customer operations, business continuity, service delivery, distribution, transformation and commercial performance across the Pacific. His work strengthened operational resilience, lifted customer satisfaction and delivered measurable improvements in efficiency and profitability.
As a founder of Simpl., Vince brings a grounded, practitioner’s mindset — challenging legacy operating models and helping organisations move faster, simplify decision‑making and build service systems that work in the real world. Today, he continues to support organisations undergoing change, guided by a principle that has shaped his entire career: when you simplify the work, you unlock the performance.
